Please read carefully. This policy applies to all clients receiving tax preparation, filing, or related services from Simply Royal Tax Services LLC.
Our Service Standard
Our fees are based on the preparation, accuracy, and filing of your tax return — not the outcome of your refund. Rates vary depending on the schedules and forms completed and any out-of-pocket expenses incurred. Payment for services is never a reflection of your refund amount.
You Are Responsible for Your Preparation Fee — No Exceptions
- If you or your spouse owe a federal or government debt — such as IRS, child support, student loans, etc. — you are still responsible for the tax preparation fees due to Simply Royal Tax Services at the time of service.
- If your refund is reduced, offset, or taken for any reason by the IRS or state, you are still responsible for the full tax preparation fee.
- If your federal refund is mailed to you directly, you remain responsible for the preparation fees as stated on your invoice.
- If, for any reason, you decide not to proceed with tax preparation services after your return is completed, you will be charged a $150 non-filing fee, payable immediately upon the decision not to file. If this fee is not paid immediately, you will be required to pay the full tax preparation fee as per the invoice attached to your return.
Just as we assist clients in resolving tax balances and obligations, we expect the same standard of responsibility when it comes to paying for services rendered.
Consent for Payment
- Simply Royal Tax Services is not responsible for errors caused by omitted or incorrect information provided by the taxpayer (i.e. Social Security numbers, names, dates of birth, etc.). These errors may delay your refund.
- Simply Royal Tax Services does not control whether the IRS randomly selects your return for an audit. All clients are welcome to purchase Audit Protection, and we will keep all necessary documents on file to dispute an audit on your behalf. All information obtained from the taxpayer and/or spouse must be submitted if the IRS audits your return.
- Simply Royal Tax Services is not responsible for any incorrect tax figures provided by the taxpayer and/or spouse. If your tax figures change, you will need to submit an amendment; amendment preparation is available for an additional fee.
- If you have any overdue debts (i.e. school loans, child support, DPP, DFCS, etc.) that are scheduled to offset your refund, you will be required to pay your tax preparation fees upfront. You can call the IRS offset department at 1-800-304-3107 or 1-800-829-7650 to check the status of any scheduled offsets. If you are unaware of a potential offset and your refund is completely garnished, and/or if any preparation fees are not paid, your prep fee will be drafted from the bank account on file with our office.
- Simply Royal Tax Services is not responsible for any changes the IRS or receiving bank may make to disbursement dates, or for any glitch issues on the IRS's end that may cause a delay in receiving your tax refund. We do not reimburse any bank fees in the event of this occurrence.
Payment Due Date
- Payment is due once your return has been completed, filed, and funded (by check or direct deposit) — whichever comes first if a refund is offset or otherwise unavailable to us for direct collection.
- For clients who are not using a bank product to pay their preparation fees out of their refund, or who will not be receiving a refund, payment is due at the time of service.
- Clients are welcome to use available Buy Now, Pay Later financing options (AfterPay, Affirm, and Klarna) to cover their balance immediately if needed. In-house payment plans will only be utilized if the client can show proof that they do not qualify for any of the BNPL payment options.
Late Payment Terms
If payment in full is not received within 30 days of being notified of your tax preparation balance:
- A $50 late fee will be applied to your account.
- Interest of 1.5% per month will begin accruing on the outstanding balance and will continue to accrue for as long as any portion of the balance remains unpaid.
- Your account may be referred for theft of services and/or small claims being filed with the courts.
Bank-Debited Fees
By engaging our services, you agree that the bank account on file may be charged a $100 processing fee if:
- Your return is rejected due to already having been e-filed or applied for a loan with another tax firm, or
- Our office completes your return and you do not sign within 24 hours of being notified that your return is ready for signature. In this case, we will consider your return abandoned, assume you have filed elsewhere, and deactivate your return in our system.
Non-Payment Consequences
We take our services seriously — so should your responsibility to pay. Failure to resolve an outstanding balance may result in:
- Referral for theft of services (in some states)
- Legal action to recover fees owed for services rendered
- Interest continuing to accrue at 1.5% per month until the balance is paid in full
